The container is a nest, which conveys a home for the couple of nahuales. A nest could be a container in a way, but a nest is only a home when birds live in it. The analogy is that a home without anyone inside is just a building/house. With this analogy, wearability comes into play in which the Nahuales, when they are inside the nest, become a ring. Using the analogy of a home, when the Nahuales are outside the nest, it becomes an empty home. Because the ring bands are attached to the birds, the nest becomes unwearable. To reinforce the idea of a home, the closure of a box catch is in the shape of a door lock. Using two metals in this project, copper and silver, conveys the idea that two souls together will create one home. The two birds, a Dove and a Swan, are symbols taken from our surnames, reinforcing the duality concept in the piece. My partner’s surname is Doupe, which means dove and Cisneros, which means Swan.
